I needed to remove my dash as 2 of the bulbs had gone, and the digital display was quite dull.

If you read your Haynes Manual, it suggests to remove the dash you start somewhere around the back license plate holder and move steadily forward until the whole car inner workings are out. Well I exaggerate, but to remove the dash is a 5 minute job.

Firstly, unscrew the four dashboard screws (one above the head fan controls, one above the trip computer or clock, and two in the dash housing at the top)

The back of the dash. The digital dash is quite fragile, with most of its components being plasticy board. So be careful when handling. The main bulbs are 12v halogens available from Vauxhall at £4.50 each. The check control lights at the bottom of the dash have their own little bulbs - they are the black things at the bottom. Both bulbs fit by inserting and twisting.

In it goes - a new bulb. Careful not to touch halogen bulbs on the glass as they don't like it and go pop when turned on if soiled.

Refitting is the reverse of removal. You can also test the dash before you put it back in by re-connecting all the dash connectors AND the light switch, and then turning the ignition.
